Description

Infrared Hydrocarbon Gas Detection for Demanding Environments

The Honeywell Searchpoint Optima Plus is a fixed point infrared detector for hydrocarbon gas hazards in potentially explosive atmospheres. Designed for applications from industrial plants to offshore installations, it combines rapid detection with diagnostics and optical monitoring to support dependable gas monitoring.

Infrared Sensing with Lower Routine Maintenance

Infrared sensing is immune to catalytic poisons and can operate in inert atmospheres. Compared with conventional electro-catalytic detectors, Searchpoint Optima Plus offers reduced routine maintenance requirements. Self-compensating optics and dynamic heating help maintain optical stability and prevent condensation.

Key Features

  • Detection of a wide range of hydrocarbon gases and vapours, including compatible solvents, with gas-specific calibration.
  • More than 100 gas and vapour calibrations available across the range; confirm suitability for your target gas.
  • 4–20 mA output with automatic sink or source sensing.
  • Optional HART communication on suitable models.
  • Advanced internal fault diagnostics and false-alarm rejection algorithms.
  • Contaminated-optics warning and integral event logging.
  • Remote functional gas test facility.
  • No moving parts in the detection system.

Typical Applications

Offshore oil and gas platforms, FPSO vessels, tankers, refineries, onshore terminals, LNG/LPG bottling plants, gas compressor and metering stations, gas turbine power plants, and solvent printing or coating facilities.

Technical Highlights

  • Measuring range: 0–100% LEL.
  • Methane response time: T50 less than 3 seconds; T90 less than 4 seconds.
  • Operating temperature range: −40°C to +65°C.
  • Power requirement: 18–32 VDC.
  • Ingress protection: IP66/67.

Select the Right Model

This listing describes the Searchpoint Optima Plus range, not a single orderable part number. Gas calibration, communication options, accessories and hazardous-area approvals must be confirmed against the selected model and current technical documentation. MODBUS RS485 integration is available via a suitably configured XNX transmitter, rather than as a standard direct detector output.
